Neuville lands in Kenya, targets Safari Rally glory in 2025 WRC defence

Reigning World Rally Champion Thierry Neuville has arrived in Kenya ahead of the third round of the 2025 WRC season, the iconic Safari Rally Kenya. With his eyes set on defending his title, the Belgian driver is determined to conquer the unforgiving terrains of Naivasha and Nakuru as he chases his first-ever win on African soil.
Thierry Neuville, the reigning 2024 World Rally Champion, is in Kenya ahead of the third round of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) season - the iconic Safari Rally Kenya.
Competing for the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team, Neuville secured his first WRC title in 2024, making history as Belgium's first-ever WRC champion while delivering Hyundai its first drivers' championship. Known for his aggressive driving style and adaptability across diverse terrains, Neuville has been a consistent top contender in WRC for years. Despite multiple runner-up finishes in the past, he is now focused on defending his title in 2025.

The Safari Rally Kenya, renowned for its rugged terrain and unpredictable conditions, has proven challenging for Neuville in previous editions, with his best finish being fifth place. However, with his current form and determination, he aims to claim his first Safari Rally victory and bolster his title defence.

Speaking after his arrival and interaction with fans, Neuville expressed his appreciation for the unique nature of the Safari Rally.
"It is something very unique to have an event like Kenya in the WRC calendar where you can show the performance of your car and its ability to handle all kinds of circumstances and conditions," said Neuville.
The Safari Rally Kenya was officially approved by the Cabinet on March 11 and will be hosted in Naivasha and Nakuru Counties. The event is expected to draw both local and international spectators, providing a significant boost to tourism and the economy.
